Endodontology expert witnesses
Listed endodontology expert witnesses address root canal treatment, its planning, execution and outcome. Instrument separation, perforation and inadequate obturation are the recurring subjects of instruction.

01
The evidence
What an endodontology expert witness is asked to determine
Endodontic evidence is radiograph-led. Pre-operative, working length and post-operative films together show whether the canal system was identified, prepared and filled adequately, and whether isolation and irrigation followed accepted practice at the time. Where a tooth has since been extracted, the argument turns on what the pre-treatment films supported rather than on the outcome that followed.
- Whether the diagnosis and the decision to undertake root canal treatment were supported by the records.
- Whether rubber dam isolation and irrigation protocols were used as accepted practice required.
- Whether canal preparation, working length and obturation are adequate on the radiographs.
- Whether a separated instrument or perforation was identified, disclosed and managed appropriately.
- Whether referral to a specialist was indicated by the complexity documented.
Practitioners are listed across all four UK nations. Location can be narrowed in the register’s location listings before an instruction is made.

Reports prepared
Radiographs and treatment notes support a records review report without examination in most instructions. A breach and causation report addresses the consequence of any failing identified.
Where retreatment or extraction and replacement are claimed, a condition and prognosis report sets out the cost and sequence. Each report page states the requirements.
Endodontology expert witness evidence
An endodontist expert witness reads the radiographic series as a sequence and states what each film shows about preparation and obturation.
The listing carries discipline and location only; terms are settled with the practitioner. See the British Endodontic Society alongside the case material.
