An audiology expert witness interprets the hearing evidence in its clinical and occupational context. The opinion may need to distinguish the audiometric pattern, reported symptoms and day-to-day functional effect from other possible explanations for the recorded loss.

• Whether audiograms and speech testing support the alleged degree and configuration of hearing loss.
• Whether the history of occupational or acute noise exposure is consistent with the available test results.
• Whether tinnitus, hyperacusis or balance symptoms can be considered alongside the hearing evidence, while keeping their separate clinical features clear.
• Whether age, ear disease, medication, recreational exposure or previous records provide an alternative or additional explanation.
• What can be said about communication in noise, hearing aids, monitoring and future audiological needs.
