The source material is unusually detailed: the pre-operative assessment, the anaesthetic chart, drug and fluid records, monitoring traces and recovery observations. That record allows an opinion to follow the sequence minute by minute, which is why the timing of each entry often matters more than the narrative written afterwards.
- Whether pre-operative assessment identified the risks the history and investigations disclosed.
- Whether the anaesthetic technique, drugs and doses selected were appropriate to the patient and the procedure.
- Whether airway management, monitoring and the response to a recorded event met the expected standard.
- Whether consent discussion of anaesthetic risk is supported by the contemporaneous record.
- Whether recovery, handover and post-operative analgesia decisions are relevant to the outcome alleged.
